| NHCC is conducting
various drug abuse prevention/ awareness and early intervention
activities for different community groups. In these programs
special focus has remained on youth. The drug abuse prevention
programs of NHCC include: • Drug
Awareness programs for youth in educational institutions
• Community meetings in outreach centers
• Awareness programs for community on large scale
• seminars
• Training workshops
• Formation of New Horizons Cricket Club
• Training and follow-up of self-help groups
Drug abuse prevention activities are conducted
in various community settings i.e. schools, colleges, universities,
residential areas / vicinities, streets, mosques, work places
etc.
Drug abuse prevention activities also serve the purpose of:
• Early identification of drug use
• Motivation and referrals for intervention
New Horizons Cricket Club
The purpose of sports activities is to
give awareness to people about drug abuse.
Cricket team of NHCC belongs to youth group and they play
cricket in different areas of Karachi city. The aim is to
improve mental and physical health of the individual because
we believe that healthy mind needs healthy physique.
