New
Horizons Care Center organized a media conference on the above
mention subject. Different people from
electronic and print media joined us and they were given awareness
about the disaster of continued Harm Reduction Programs. At
that time Mr. Freddie Jayawaredana, senior program officer
and Dato Zainuddin Bahari, an Evaluation officer from Colombo
Plan Drug Advisory Program, Mr. Naveed Younus founder &
head of New Horizons Care Center and Mr. Asif Baig General
Secretary Legal Aid Forum Pakistan were present there. Mr.
Freddie Jayawardena said that Drug Addiction is a disease
and its Treatment is available everywhere in the world. Our
aim is to eradicate drugs from Pakistan and all over the world.

| .Mr. Naveed Younus head of NHCC said that
we oppose `harm reduction´ programs as that promote
the false notion that there are safe or responsible ways
to use drugs he added that we support harm prevention
and harm elimination through expanding treatment, outreach,
and social services for drug users and addicts. He said
that if needle exchange programs are not stopped in Pakistan
then in near future condition will be more pathetic, we
strongly condemn needle exchange programs and want Government
to stop it immediately and the budget which is spend on
NEP program should be utilized in Treatment and Rehabilitation
of Drug Addicts and this statement was supported by all
speakers and guests. |
